Our Wix eCommerce review

Wix made its name on a genuinely freeform, drag-and-drop editor, and that DNA carries into its commerce product. You place elements anywhere on the canvas and see exactly what your customers will see — no theme constraints, no code. For a sole trader or creative selling a modest catalog, nothing gets you to a polished storefront faster.

The all-in-one bundle is part of the appeal: hosting, domain, templates, and a respectable set of commerce features arrive together at a low monthly price. The App Market and Wix's AI site-building tools fill most small-business gaps without requiring outside help.

Where Wix shows its limits is scale. It isn't engineered for sprawling catalogs or very high order volumes, you can't swap templates after launch without rebuilding, and its SEO, while much improved, still trails WordPress. It's a tool optimized for getting small stores live and looking great, not for running an enterprise operation.

The verdict

Wix is the easiest on-ramp to a great-looking small store. If you're starting out and value design freedom over raw scale, it's hard to beat — just be aware you may outgrow it as your catalog and order volume climb.

Wix eCommerce FAQ

Can I change my template later?
Not without rebuilding. Wix locks your template at launch, so choose carefully up front.
Is Wix good for large stores?
It's best for small to mid-sized catalogs. Very large inventories and high order volumes are better served elsewhere.
Does Wix include hosting?
Yes — hosting, a free first-year domain, and SSL are all bundled into the subscription.
